Brain Research: Address the multi-sensory brain

It is proven that the brain retains 10% of what we read, 20% of what we hear, 30% of what we see, 70% of what we say and 90% of what we see, say and do. It is this well-established theory that forms the foundation of our Interactive whiteboard content. Therefore, visual, auditory and physical experience is very important to maximize learning.

Different parts of our brain process different kinds of information. The neo-cortex deals with logic and creativity and stores all our memories. The cortex acts as the

emotional center, while the brain stem (reptilian brain) processes basal instincts of survival, territorial and physical maintenance. All information enters the brain through the emotional center. This is where the experiences are captured through sights, sounds and physical experiences. The emotional center is, therefore, the gateway of all information. It is essential to make content multi-sensory, i.e. visual, auditory or physical. Effective content is one that connects with our emotional center.
